Job Description: Steering Butchery Operations Towards Success

The Butchery Manager/Supervisor will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the butchery while meeting predetermined sales and profitability objectives. Managing butchery targets and profitability stands as a primary responsibility, requiring astute financial acumen and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Managing Targets and Profitability:

Effective management of sales targets and profitability margins is essential for sustained success. The appointed individual will oversee sales strategies and implement measures to maximize revenue while maintaining optimal profit margins.

2. Stock Control and Procurement:

Maintaining optimal stock levels and overseeing procurement processes are crucial aspects of the role. Controlling stock effectively ensures product availability while minimizing wastage and reducing costs.

3. Point of Sale and Pricing:

The Butchery Manager/Supervisor will be responsible for point of sale operations and pricing strategies. Ensuring accurate pricing and effective promotional campaigns are imperative to drive sales and enhance customer satisfaction.

4. Hygiene and Housekeeping:

Maintaining high standards of hygiene and housekeeping within the butchery is paramount. Adherence to health and safety regulations not only ensures compliance but also enhances the overall customer experience.

5. Staff Management:

Minimum Requirements: Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

A minimum of 5 years' experience in all aspects of day-to-day running and managing of a meat market.

At least 2 years' retail experience in fresh foods departments.

Computer literacy is recommended.

Industrial Relations experience is recommended.

Matric with Maths/Science/Accounting or NQF level 4 equivalent, or:

Grade 1 Meat Cutting Certificate, or

Recognised Butchery Apprenticeship/Learnership.
